Be the sheep or don’t be

Trickling into our daily life is the person that we are in public and the person that we are in the private confines of our boxed in prisons. If the two personalities are diverse like the colors on a peacock’s feathers we begin to enter into a confliction with ourselves. Who are we really when we step out that door? What mask are we wearing?
Fitting in is like being a bird in the same flock and having to fly South every winter because the rest of the bird family does. Being like a bird is not uncommon for us. We need guidance. So we look at what other birds do and follow them without question. Fly South..no questions asked. By asking why you fly south every winter it opens an opportunity to be vulnerable. Vulnerable isn’t acceptable in society.
Society is a melding pot of problems. We are driven by materialism, perspectives, fear, comfortablity, and conformists. Creating the reason why the news desires to only focus on the destructive aspects of society like killings, politics, and natural events. Our news enters into the way people make decisions and it caters to the idea of group conformism.
“There are people who are generic. They make generic responses and they expect generic answers. They live inside a box and they think people who don’t fit into their box are weird. But I’ll tell you what, generic people are the weird people. They are like genetically-manipulated plants growing inside a laboratory, like indistinguishable faces, like droids. Like ignorance.”

Do not strive to fit in like thoughtless sheep with no desire to break the invisible cord wrapped around your neck. The type to do what everyone else does like buy that brand new iPhone because everyone else is buying it. This angle at life has become a social norm it seems.
What causes us to become mindless sheep? What makes people want to fit in rather than belong?
