I had one of my best shower ideas back when I took a creative writing course in highschool. We were supposed to come up with an epiphany piece. I decided to focus on centering out a stoplight which goes from green, yellow, and red. Then it involved itself into a full on novel. ( The novel is complete but I am a practitioner of rewriting forever.)
