A generation Unhappy?
“I’m not unhappy,” he said. “Only people with no purpose are unhappy. I’ve got a purpose.”
― Cassandra Clare, City of Bones
An ultimate question. One that has no singular rhyme or reason for an answer. The truth is as noticeable as a growing hair on your arm. Not everyone wants to admit it, but the world is moving into a digital age that many predicted but no one could foretell what the age would look like.
The problems coated in despair are from our own desires to give away ourselves to hide from the pain of commitment, or work. Due to the digital age, people become enamored in sex, porn, and drugs as a coping method to loneliness as they don’t want to sit in a room with themselves. Video games are a mode to blow off steam. Social media a trend for relationship cheating and hiding secrets. Thus, it is no surprise a single generation has become consumed by clear sadness.
Not the First
“People who fit don’t seek. The seekers are those that don’t fit.”
― Shannon L. Alder
